Awards are nice.
They tell you that you're on the right track and that others notice what you do.
More than the awards themselves, though, we always appreciate being recognized by our peers.
That's why three awards mean more to us than any of the others. They're
the three highest awards that the home building industry can bestow
upon one of its members - The Home Building Triple Crown. And Drees is
one of just a few builders in America to earn all three.
1998 America's Best Builder
Since 1992, Builder magazine has presented the "America’s Best Builder"
award to builders who are "blueprints for success in home building."
According to Builder, Drees won because of three major factors: "a
tradition of conservative financial management and diversification, an
employee-oriented culture that promotes loyalty, and management that
listens to and changes with the market."
David Drees, Drees President, knows exactly who to thank for this award: the employees.
"You can all be proud of the job you’ve done in earning this award," said David.
"It proves what I’ve known all along.
That our employees are the most talented and most dedicated in the industry.
It’s rare that a family-owned builder can grow and succeed like we have.
That’s why we attract and retain the best."
"To be considered ‘best’ by your peers is more than outstanding," continued David.
"It’s what every professional in any industry strives for.
It tells us that we’re on the right track, that we’ve done a good job of building the class of homes our customers demand."
National Housing Quality Award
In 1994, Drees received the National Housing Quality Award from
Professional Builder magazine and the National Association of Home
Builders Research Center. This award is the highest recognition for
excellence in the housing industry.
Drees received this award in part because of our written
Quality Assurance Plan and our $1 million education investment in
Philip Crosby's Quality Improvement Program.
National Builder of the Year
Drees received the NHQ award just three years after Ralph Drees was
named the 1991 National Builder of the Year, again by Professional
Builder magazine. In awarding this high honor, judges looked for a
builder who set a standard that other builders should emulate. The
winning builder should also better the home building industry and the
communities that the builder serves. Drees was the builder that matched
these criteria.
Drees has earned a number of other awards over the years.
(Our floor plans have won awards across the country.)
But few can match the satisfaction of being recognized as one of the top builders in the nation.
